Your library stays yours

FolkBinder stores your tunes, scores, recordings, annotations, set lists, and app settings on your device by default. If you choose iCloud sync in Settings, your library is stored in your private iCloud container and synced across your devices through Apple. Apple handles that storage under its privacy policy.

Backups and exported files are saved wherever you choose to put or share them. FolkBinder does not run its own server for storing your library.

02 / Finding tunes

Online searches

When you search for tunes or playback, FolkBinder sends your search terms directly from your device to The Session and FolkWiki. Previewing or importing a result downloads tune details and files from the relevant source. Importing a supported tune link may also contact the linked website.

Those websites can receive your request, including your search terms and technical information such as your IP address, and handle it under their own policies. FolkWiki search currently uses an unencrypted HTTP connection, so avoid entering sensitive information as a search term. You can use your existing library offline; online search and downloads require a connection.

03 / Getting in touch

Feedback you send

When you choose to send feedback from the app, it opens a draft email addressed to Joey Gibson. The draft includes the app version, device model, operating system version, and locale to help diagnose issues. You can review or edit it before sending. If you email us, we receive the address and information you choose to include and use it to respond to you. Your email provider also handles the message.

FolkBinder does not include third-party advertising or tracking SDKs.

This website

This site is hosted on GitHub Pages, which may process standard connection information when you visit. See GitHub’s privacy statement. The site uses Google Fonts, so your browser may request font files from Google; see Google’s privacy policy.

We do not add analytics, advertising pixels, or first-party cookies to this site. The documentation search runs in your browser; it does not send your search to a FolkBinder server.

Your choices

You can use FolkBinder without searching online or turning on iCloud sync. You can delete tunes or your library from within the app. Files you have exported, emailed, or backed up must be removed from their destination separately. If you used iCloud sync, deleting the app or local data may not remove copies in iCloud or on other devices; manage that storage through your Apple account and device settings.
